380 Red-tipped Clearwing (Synanthedon formicaeformis)

Single-brooded, overwinters as a larva

Recorded size range of fully grown larvae - 16 to 20mm

Usual larval stage August to May

Adult forewing - around 9 to 11mm. Flies late May to early August

Larval foodplants : Larvae feed inside the trunks and stems of various Salix species, especially osier (Salix viminalis)
