Single-brooded, overwinters as a larva

Recorded size range of fully grown larvae - 15 to 18mm

Usual larval stage August to May

Adult forewing - around 9 to 11mm. Flies mid-June to early August

Larval foodplants : larvae live under the bark of old fruit trees, especially apple (Malus spp.) but sometimes pear (Pyrus spp.), almond (Prunus amygdalus) and others
