2285 Marsh Dagger (Acronicta strigosa)

Single-brooded, overwinters as a pupa. Now extinct in the UK, but a rare migrant

Recorded size range of fully grown larvae - 27 to 33mm

Usual larval stage August to early September

Adult forewing - around 13 to 15mm. Flies late June to early July

Larval foodplants : Hawthorn (Crateagus Spp.) and Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa)
