Northern Footman (Eilema complana) f. sericea

Is now considered to be a northern form of the Scarce Footman (Eilema complana)

Recorded size range of fully grown larvae - 23 to 26mm

Single-brooded, overwinters as a small larva

Usual larval stage August to mid-June

Adult forewing -15 to 18mm. Flies July to August

Larval foodplants : Lichens and green algae on stones, plant stems and posts
